Faith Formation in the congregation in the 21st Century
The purpose of a sabbatical is to provide time for reflection, renewal, refreshment, relaxation & deepened relationship with God.
My 2010 Sabbatical was a life-impacting sabbatical living in and with Lekubu Lutheran Parish in South Africa. I am deeply thankful to Lekubu Parish and the three congregations in the villages of Lekubu, Mosweu, and Nyetse. Living with you has forever changed my life, ministry, theology, and commitments.
This 2016 Sabbatical is very different since I will be very present. On this blog I will list my activities, books I read, websites I study, and what I learn. PLUS - on this website I will include events that I invite people at Grace to attend with me. So - please - join me on this sabbatical. Add your comments in response to my thought/learning of the day. Attend events with me. Give your thoughts.
Let us together discover why, what, how Grace can develop effective faith formation in our congregational life for all ages in this 21st Century.
In early Fall, 2015 one of the sharpest people I told me, "I don't know what you are talking about." It was in reference to words like "missional", "accompaniment", "transformational", and to conversation about following Jesus and being and doing church in the 21st Century.
This Sabbatical is my intent to examine more closely what has happened and is happening in this 21st Century. I am doing this in deep trust that God is profoundly present, that the message of Jesus Christ is profoundly relevant and directly addresses our greatest needs, and that the door is wide open with endless opportunities for us as individuals and as the church to effectively invite people into the Good News of Jesus Christ.
